It’s a bit late to change the company name to INTERnational Property Consulting Group, but National Property Consulting Group (NPC) would like our potential clients to know we’re definitely willing to travel. For example, this past month, Ken Winship and Andy Mansuetti (pictured on camelback) were in Egypt. They performed four energy audits at resorts around the country that are pursuing net zero certification.
And in their free time, of course they had to visit the pyramids and take in one of the world’s all time greatest feats of building engineering.
National Property Consulting Group (NPC) is hitting the road this year to connect with potential clients and collaborators across the country. Our first big trade show was the National Facilities Management & Technology Conference in Baltimore from March 12 to 14.
Pictured above is Senior Energy Engineer Ed Gillett, who was dropped off at the convention center with our brand-new booth materials, and managed to figure out and set up the booth by the time his colleagues got the car parked. Ed has lots of other skills, too, such as brewing beer and retro-commissioning building automation systems.
NFMT was a great trade show for meeting not only current and potential clients, but also for connecting with other companies that might want to partner on complex projects. Our next road trip will be to Pittsburgh for Energy Exchange on March 26-28.
National Property Consulting Group (NPC) is celebrating 20 years! Thanks to great clients who have trusted us over the years, we have been able to recruit expert engineers, architects, and project managers. NPC has a staff of 18 and maintains 8 office locations across the US. So far, we’ve performed:
ADA Assessments of over 4 million square feet (including 8145 hotel rooms)
Capital Needs Assessments (CNAs) of over 10 million square feet (including 11,819 affordable housing units)
Document and/or Draw Reviews of over 13 million square feet of industrial and housing spaces (including authorization of $468 million in construction funding)
Energy Audits of over 39 million square feet (leading to $23 million in recommended energy savings, an average of 22%)
Property Condition Assessments (PCAs) of over 285 million square feet (including 193 million in the industrial/warehouse sector and 65 million in the hospitality sector)
Roof Consulting on over 4 million square feet (including Quality Assurance Observation during construction and pre-construction Design Surveys)
In 2023 alone, the NPC team traveled to 205 cities and accomplished over 250 projects. And we have no intention of slowing down! Click the blue button at the top of the page to request a proposal for your property, or the red button to learn more about joining our team!
National Property Consulting Group (NPC) employees who are local to or were passing through the Cincinnati headquarters convened for their annual holiday party on December 15. This year’s event featured an axe-throwing competition. Project Manager Stan Wester fended off challenges from many other determined novices to win the event. A good time was had by all.
The gathering took place in Cincinnati’s Over-The-Rhine historic district, an area in which NPC has worked on multiple redevelopment projects this year. Speaking of projects, the NPC team in this photo, along with a few more colleagues not pictured, traveled to 205 different cities and accomplished over 250 projects in 2023, many of which include multiple properties.
We think this is a phenomenal team, and we look forward to even bigger things next year. Happy Holidays to one and all!
National Property Consulting Group (NPC) is pleased to announce that Project Manager Stan Wester has obtained his Registered Roof Observer (RRO) certification. RRO candidates must meet the experience, ethics, training, and roof systems knowledge requirements of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC).
Stan began his career as a roofing installer and was quickly promoted to foreman and then project manager for several crews. He has handled all phases of complicated design-build projects.
Stan’s work at NPC includes performing roof condition assessments and design surveys, as well as leading our team of Quality Assurance Observers (QAOs) throughout the US. Our clients can rest assured that under the watchful eyes of Stan and his team, roofing contractors are not cutting corners.
What’s next for Stan? He plans to continue his education through the IIBEC and become a Registered Roof Consultant (RRC).
This past summer, NPC welcomed intern Gavin Campbell, a junior at Trine University majoring in Chemical Engineering. Gavin was kept busy assisting with Property Condition assessments, energy audits, roofing evaluations, and a project to develop unique energy solutions for an off-grid resort.
He accompanied NPC’s team to site visits in Washington DC, Florida, and the island of St. Thomas, working alongside project engineers who are helping hotel properties meet their sustainability goals. Having developed an interest in sanitation during a college assignment, Gavin was challenged to evaluate a reverse osmosis seawater desalination plant and a wastewater treatment facility for energy efficiency opportunities for an off-grid resort in addition to performing engineering calculations for potential renewable and energy efficiency measures proposed at multiple upscale hotels and resorts.
Gavin’s internship was one of three recently featured on Trine University’s News web page as an immersive, international experience for its chemical engineering majors.
Gavin was a great fit for our intern position and an enthusiastic part of the team. NPC wishes him well in his future endeavors.
NPC is pleased to welcome Project Engineer Miles Burnam to the team. While all our employees are as versatile as Swiss Army knives, Miles brings an exceptional set of skills with him. He is an FAA UAS-certified pilot and will be applying his drone piloting skills to the new Facility Testing services program he will be deploying. Thanks to Miles, NPC now offers ASTM-standards-based testing for every part of your building envelope.
Our vision is to be able to support our clients through every step of their property maintenance or improvement plans. You can read more about Miles and how he complements our team here.
This spring, NPC was awarded an unexpectedly large project consisting of hotel energy audits across the country. With not quite enough personnel on hand and a son, Orrie Friend, studying engineering at Ohio University, Director of Energy Engineering Services Rusty Friend knew exactly how to solve the temporary staffing problem. He “recruited” the sophomore mechanical engineering major for a coast-to-coast road trip and immersion in the energy audit process. It was an opportunity that was impossible to refuse: a chance to learn from the best in the business – Dad!
According to Rusty, there was a bit of father-son time shared during the trip, including a stop in Arizona to watch a Cincinnati Reds spring training game. However, there were many more hours of Orrie driving while Rusty tapped away at his laptop, writing reports. At each hotel Orrie’s responsibilities increased as he became more capable – with documenting equipment and calculating the efficiency of lighting, plumbing, HVAC in common and guest spaces, and tricky spots like kitchens and laundries. Together, the pair completed 30 ASHRAE Level II energy audits over the course of 26 weeks.
NPC was pleased to be able to provide this opportunity to an aspiring engineer. We wish Orrie well in his career, no matter what direction in engineering he chooses once he graduates.
NPC is pleased to welcome Project Manager Stan Wester (R.R.O.) to the team. Stan is NPC’s lead roof observer performing onsite observation, inspections, and reporting on roofing projects. He is a keystone for our portfolio management team, executing roof condition assessments and design surveys.
His previous experience as a roofing contractor/project manager aligns with our vision to be able to support our clients through every step of project development and construction. You can read more about Stan and how he complements our team here.
NPC is pleased to welcome Andy Mansuetti to our team as an Energy Engineer. According to Rusty Friend, Director of Energy Engineering Services, Andy’s strength is in his experience with diverse building types. His resume includes energy audits and facility condition assessments at Army bases, housing projects, colleges, and National Parks facilities.
We’re confident Andy will fit right into our energy engineering consulting team. You can read more about Andy here.
